I'm interested in hearing from those of you who have made the switch from Old Blogger to New Blogger, particularly if you wrote a significant number of posts in Old Blogger. Any problems with the switch, or complaints in re: the new setup? Please let me know via comments or e-mail.
I'm also curious about how many of my readers are still using Old Blogger, and whether you have reasons for doing so other than inertia.
In other news, my friends are all having babies.

i think i was given the opportunity a while back. i didn't change to the google-blog then - probably because i was being lazy. now i would if it was pushed on me although i already have four email addresses (confusing and unnecessary) and i'm guessing they make you create a gmail account?
They do. I'm pro-gmail, but anti- being forced to sign up for a new e-mail account when you already have four of them. So I hear ya cluckin', big chicken.
We will all be forced to switch eventually. But I've heard no indication of when "eventually" will be.
Lindsey,
I switched and my only complaint in the google username/password part. It doesn't work. For example, after I write this I'll type in my gew username and password and it'll say "wrong password." But it isn't. No matter what I'll do, I'll have to check "other" and manually type in my name and blog site address. BUT I LOVE the settings/template on the new blogger. It's in English, as opposed to computerese like the other one with all of the backslash, greater than/less than carrots and thingies that you, oh computer savy one, probably have no problem with, but it thoroughly confused me. I can easily change fonts, colors, add links, etc...with no problem now. So, I'm glad I switched, but a little annoyed by the google account.
I guess I didn't realize that I was supposed to be concerned about the switch! Like the obedient girl I am, I promptly moved on over the first time I was asked. Since I already had a google account, it was totally pain-free. I have had no issues with the switch, except for the occasional inadvertant attempt to log in under "Old Blogger" (which sounds like the nickname for the town drunk). My sister-in-law in Uganda reports today that she successfully switched over, even with the interrupted connections they have. Have no fear!
Well, I hated being forced, and I see very few advantages for anyone who is an average user.
On the disadvantages side: 1. maybe half of the names (and links) to the people who commented in the pasty have been replaced by "anonymous," tags.
2. you have to log in with the FULL email address attached to your google account (if you don't either have or add a gmail account), which is a lot of typing (or, you can bring up your google page (which keeps you logged in) and cut and paste the tag at the top).
3. There is no turning back once they force you in, and then they don't make it easy to log complaints. They should have left it in beta for a MUCH longer time, considering how many problems they have found, but still remain unfixed.
How it happens: they warn you, the second time that they offer to switch you (I think), that you will be required to swithch next time, then they won't let you login to Old Blogger, when next your turn comes. No matter what I did, I couldn't get around it. Maybe if you just leave yourself logged in, you can keep Old Blogger.
I didn't know there was another version
A couple of late to the party thoughts.
New blogger requires a google account, which comes with a free gmail account. If you do sign up for one, you don't have to read the mail in the attached gmail account if you don't want to. So, don't let that get you down--there won't be any change to the global climate because of your wasteful use of email addresses.
You can switch blogger to new blogger and use your existing google/gmail account or sign up for one.
The only bug I experienced, before I moved to new blogger, (and I've had none since moving), is trying to log on to comment on new blogger sites with my old blogger account. You may have seen a few comments by me with an avatar of me in my treehouse and wondered what was going on. Well, on new blogger sites I couldn't get logged on to comment, so I created a new blogger account and was using it for commenting before I made the switch with my blog.
Now, although that was buggy, I think I know why it was happening. When I would be refused login with my old account I would be logged into gmail with another browser/tab. I'm guessing that the cookie blogger was checking to see if I was logged on was looking at the gmail one and got confused when I wanted to log in with old blogger credentials.
Now that I'm not using my old blogger login I don't have any problems. And the sooner everyone moves over, the sooner there won't be any bugs like this.
The only template change I had to make was adjusting the way I hide the blogger nav.
Other than that its been, (argh), smooth sailing.
right after my initial comment they made me switch - sans new gmail address.
